Welcome to the 7th Annual First Year Engineering Experience

As a continuation of the Dialogue started in 2005 at the University of Notre Dame and on behalf of the Department of Engineering Education and College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, we welcome you to the First Year Engineering Experience. This 7th Annual First Year Engineering Experience Conference is being held at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center and on the Virginia Tech campus. The program committee welcomes you to Southwest Virginia and hopes that you will find your time here enjoyable and valuable as you participate in the broad range of experiences that have been planned. FYEE is a unique opportunity that allows attendees and presenters to discuss ideas, reflect on the topics and issues from the sessions, and chart new directions and collaborations. Invited facilitators from around the country will hold short workshops and discussion groups on important topics. Conference attendees are encouraged to share best practices through technical sessions.

The FYEE conference begins on Sunday evening at the Hotel Roanoke with a welcome reception. The program begins Monday morning at the conference center with a keynote welcome followed by interactive workshops. Following lunch we will travel to Blacksburg; the trip to Blacksburg will pass quickly as you engage in our "Discuss on the Bus" group discussions on topics related to the first-year. After a quick campus tour we will meet in Goodwin Hall, our newest engineering building, for more technical sessions and an evening reception.

Tuesday's events will take place once again at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. It is a day of "best practice" presentations, when the attendees will present their work and show how it fits into the discussions from the previous day's activities.

With the expanding focus on advising and a new emphasis on the transition from K-12 we hope to see lots of new faces at FYEE 2015, and also hope that those who have attended previous conferences will join us in Blacksburg.
